Introduction from Debbie
I started my career as a Civil Engineer specialising in water resources and worked in the UK and Hong Kong. As a female engineer I got handed a lot of the people or contractual problems and also had a keen interest in using technology to support the professional development needs of my teams.
I then worked for Henley Management College, completing an MBA, developing new offerings and online distance learning products and then managing all the Henley partners in South East Asia. I then set up and sold what would now be called an e-learning business in Malaysia. On returning to the UK, I set up an online learning business (with partners such as Charles Jennings, founder of 70:20:10) which also built the first European learning content management system.
I spent many years on innovative online learning, training transformation and technology research projects which lead to a deep interest in competency management.
My passion and specialism I will bring to the Digital Transformation through Leaders project is competency management methodologies and technologies (a type of AI) but ensuring the ‘person’ is central stage to any solutions.
